Have you ever launched a service offer or launched a product that you thought was going to be a huge hit, but then nothing happened? Or have you written multiple blog articles, just to end up feeling like you are just talking to yourself. You are NOT ALONE! Many business owners find themselves over-working, social-sharing, tweeting, blogging and creating with no interaction from their customers or potential clients. There are many reasons why this happens, but one of the biggest reasons is that you as the entrepreneur haven’t figured out your perfect customer yet.
For example, what does it really mean to say you want to work with women to help them achieve more confidence and self-esteem in life? That only tells me two things about your perfect clients – they are women and they lack self-esteem and confidence. This is much too general and you will be spending too much time, energy, and money trying to reach an audience that you know very little about.
To get a bit more specific you can start to think about what age group these women are. Are they moms? Do they have kids? How do they live and play. What kind of jobs do they have? What do they currently do in their spare time? You might want to consider what has kept them from achieving healthy level of confidence and self-esteem. What problem are you solving for them? And on and on and on.
Getting to really know your perfect client helps you in multiple areas of your business. Here are a few:
1. Know the habits, beliefs, fears, and strengths of your perfect customer.
This can help you develop the kinds of offers they need and want. It keeps you from creating a product that only a few people will find useful.
2. Know your customers behaviors can give you a special kind of insight into what will speak directly to them.
As you blog, write articles, and create materials to educate your audience, learn to use the right language to excite them, motivate them, and encourage them to work with you.
3. Know the little details about your perfect customer.
This gives you a more specific target audience so that you are not trying to be all things to all people.
4. Know where and when to focus your social media efforts, your marketing dollars, and your energies.
You can save a lot of money when you focus your efforts around a community of people that are eager to experience the work you do.
5. Know as much about your perfect customer as you can.
This way you are more able to market directly to their pain (and pleasure) points.
As you build your tribe of your dream clients – the ones who are NOW out there waiting for the offers, talents, gifts and passions that only you can share with them. Remember to go as deep into the details of who they are and what problems you are solving for them as you can. This will make a major difference in the way you show up in the world as a business owner and it will help you reach the right people, establish healthy relationship with them, and nurture the ones who want to be in your tribe with you.
If you are NOW ready to serve your dream customers, having the right type of website is also necessarily, but if you have no clear idea of who your clients are, your website will reflect that and your business will suffer. So contact me for a complimentary brainstorming session and let’s talk about who your dream clients are. 😀
