Hey freelancers, contractors, and home-based entrepreneurs – Did you know that since more people use mobile devices to access the internet, the Google search engine algorithms have adapted to these usage patterns. In the past, they have made updates to ensure your website is configured properly and viewable on modern devices. But now they are making it even easier for users to find mobile-friendly web pages and introduced App Indexing to surface useful content from apps.
Google is announcing two important changes to help users discover more mobile-friendly content:
1. Mobile-friendly websites will show up more in search results:
Google will be expanding their use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal starting April 21. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in Google search results. The result is, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their mobile devices.
You can contact me, to get help with making a mobile-friendly website. But if you are not even sure if your site is mobile friendly, you can start by checking through Mobile-Friendly Test. You can also use your Webmaster Tools account to get a full list of mobile usability issues across your site using the Mobile Usability Report.
2. There will be more relevant app content in search results:
Google will begin to use information from indexed apps as a factor in ranking for signed-in users who have the app installed. As a result, they may now surface content from indexed apps more prominently in search.
If you have an app you should allow an offer to users, who have your app installed, the option to open your content within your app from Google Search results.
If you have questions about either mobile-friendly websites or app indexing, just contact me, I’ll be always happy to chat with you 😀 And when it comes to Responsive Website Development… Well, I’ve got your back!
With Love,
